I think that's very important that people understand the backstory, the almost 20-year relationship that I've had with this president. I was Miss California in 2009. Fast forward almost 20 years later, and he appointed me to this Religious Liberty Commission. I had just gotten confirmed as a Catholic, a new Catholic. And I got a call from the White House and it was one of the most amazing days of my life knowing that I would be protecting religious freedom. Ironic enough to find out that my religious freedom would then be denied while serving on a religious liberty commission to protect your religious freedom and every listener that's listening right now. It's a sad day in America and I'm speaking out because I feel the need to defend myself.

And so when a fellow commissioner like Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick out of Texas decided the day after the hearing to publicly remove me, I punched back and I said, you have no authority to remove me. The only person that has this authority under this executive order is the president himself.
