Mosaic Technologies, Biological Weapons Surveillance
Mosaic Technologies was founded in the 1990s to civilianize offensive military technologies for export under ITAR rules. This work led to the creation of MCAM, which monitors 68 scheduled pathogens in the global biological weapons arsenal for the U.S. Commerce and Treasury Departments. Surveillance intensified following the 2001 anthrax attacks, which originated from a U.S. lab at Fort Detrick.
